The Legal Action Fund Committee administers the Legal Action Fund and is comprised of 7 members appointed by the President for staggered three-year terms. The Committee is required to meet once each year during the months of October or November. Other meetings may be held at the request of the Chair.
The Legal Action Fund exists to protect and support Maryland REALTORS®, local boards, associations, members, and firms when legal issues arise that affect the real estate profession. It also provides financial support to help cover legal fees and related costs when boards, officers, members, or firms are sued due to actions taken in their official capacities. In addition, it helps defray expenses in lawsuits—whether defensive or proactive—when the interests of Maryland REALTORS® or the broader real estate industry are at stake, including cases where legal action is initiated or supported on issues of industry-wide importance.
